About Melissa

Meet Melissa, a masterful massage therapist with 14 years dedicated to the art of healing. Initially grounded in medical massage, she boasts an extensive background in anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques. Melissa’s early career flourished in a clinical setting, where she collaborated with healthcare experts to assist patients with injury recovery, pain management, and restoring bodily harmony. Her empathic touch and deep anatomical knowledge quickly established her reputation for delivering exceptional care.

Yet, Melissa’s journey took a transformative turn as she felt drawn to the spiritual connection with nature’s energy. This self-discovery expedition led her to embrace energy healing and the restorative power of the natural world, reshaping her massage practice to a holistic approach. She now expertly integrates this with her medical massage expertise, considering the energetic and spiritual alongside the physical.

Melissa’s practice now stands out for its distinctive blend of modalities, from Swedish massage and deep tissue techniques to myofascial release and energy balancing. Her sessions reflect a compassionate ethos, treating the mind, body, and spirit’s interconnectedness in a nurturing space conducive to healing.

My Services

I differentiate myself from other therapists by incorporating all of the different massage therapy modalities into one unique experience. I achieve great results from utilizing Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Neuromuscular Trigger Point Therapy and Cupping to elevate your experience to another level.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is best for giving attention to certain painful, stiff 'trouble spots' in your body. The massage therapist uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. Though less rhythmic than other types of massage, deep tissue massage can be quite therapeutic -- relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems. This medically oriented form of massage addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries.

Swedish

As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a highly specialized stretching & deep, manual therapy technique used by massage therapists to treat patients with a variety of soft-tissue problems. This form of bodywork uses long, manual stretching strokes that seek to rebalance the body by releasing tension in the fascia/connective tissue. Myo, meaning muslce, & fascial, referring to the fascia, offers release of the fascial restrictions surrounding muscles and soft-tissue. This manual massage technique releases the bonds between fascia and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions or by skin rolling.

Cupping

Cupping is a type of alternative therapy that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This suction is thought to improve the flow of energy in the body and facilitate healing. Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.
